There is amazing recent news that the newly installed Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, is leading in the polls after his partyโฆthe party of discarded PM Trudeauโฆhas been trailing badly. It seems that this surge in popularity is due to Canadians reacting patriotically to President Trumpโs comments that Canada should be the 51st state. Carney, trying to capitalize on the current anti-Trump furor, has called for a โsnapโ election.1 Itโs a shrewd political maneuver on Carneyโs part. If he was to wait to conduct an election after a months-long period of campaigning and voter reflection, Canadians may remember how Carneyโs Liberal Party has reduced their standard of living. Consider these:
- Inflation in grocery prices in Canada has grown to almost 25% since 2020.2
- Although Canada is an energy producing nation, energy prices have sky-rocketed.3
- The Canadian government has set the goal of 100% electric vehicles by 2035.4
- Canadian government run by the Liberal Party has had to admit that they have mistreated the indigenous population.5
Over the past few years of Liberal Party government, these problems and many others have eroded support among Canadian voters to record low numbers.6 If Carney was to wait to call the election, Canadian voters would, once again, remember the economic and social declines theyโre experiencing. This, of course, would spell doom for the Liberal Partyโs chances in the election.
It appears that โTrump Derangementโ has struck the Canadian voter as well as having struck Democratic Party politicians here in the US. We here at I Vote My Vote are concerned for the wellbeing of our Canadian neighbors. We hope that common sense will overrule this reaction to President Trumpโs bombastic rhetoric and throw Carney and his Liberal Party out of power.
