According to a recent poll almost a quarter of Americans think that there is an account held by the government for their personal Social Security funds. More than half of Americans have no idea how Social Security is funded.1 A Newsweek article announcing the polling data, states thatโฆ
According to the latest Social Security Trustees report, the program’s two trust fundsโthe Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) and Disability Insurance (DI) fundsโare projected to reach insolvency by 2034. If no solution is found, benefits would rely entirely on incoming payroll taxes, resulting in shortfalls of approximately 21 percent.2
This is quite an eye-opening bit of information because, as the article also states, if politicians eye Social Security โfor notable cuts or changes (this) could be politically perilous to members of either party.โ So, for much too many years nothing has been done to protect Social Security income for older Americansโฆandโฆthe majority have no interest in hearing about the imminent demise of Social Security or how it can be saved. Ignorance! If we donโt think about it, the problem will go away.
We here at I Vote My Vote are convinced that urgent and wise actions must be taken immediately to assure that YOUR money; the money you have been required by the Federal Government to pay out of every one of your paychecks as well as the matching money your employer was required to pay, will not be squandered. For the wasteful and corrupt Federal Government to stand by and do nothing, is intolerable. Read and consider the following:
