In the minds of most Americans who are familiar with the words, “peace in our time”, these words signify cowardice and appeasement. The connection comes from the historic 1938 meeting with Adolf Hitler where British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain with French Prime Minister Edouard Daladier agreed to Hitler’s demand to annex a large part of Czechoslavakia. Of course appeasement usually fails to stop aggression and it certainly didn’t stop Hitler. Peace in our time resulted in the conflagration that was World War Two.
Now our European ‘allies’…if you can really call them that…are horrified at the attempt that President Trump is making to remove the threat of nuclear annihilation at the hands of the terrorists ruling Iran. For example, The European Council on Foreign Relations demands that “Europeans must stand up to Trump’s illegal war in Iran.”1 In the article referenced, the ECFR demands that the US’s NATO allies oppose the war to relieve Iran of its nuclear armaments. They refer to Spain’s response that called the war “illegal”, as the paradigm.
To this oppose this ‘head in the sand’ strategy we here at I Vote My Vote from the conservative position, urge the following:
- Recognize that Iran as is currently governed is a rogue state that will not hesitate to obliterate Israel, the US and any of our allies with nuclear weapons if they are to successfully produce them. Does anyone with a brain and knowledge of recent history – their support of terrorism in Lebanon and Yemen as well as their supply of drones to Russia, for example – really believe that they will not use atomic weapons to destroy Israel and conquer the middle east in service to their vicious leaders?2
- Recognize that the current government of Iran has terrorized and conducted genocide on its own people.3 Over the period from 1981 to 2019, 120,000 Iranians have been executed by their government.
- Recognize that decades of defense subsidies from the US to its European allies have allowed them to continue to emplace socialist programs.
- Recognize that as a result of their socialist welfare policies, they have weakened their economies and their willingness to resist tyranny.4
It is increasingly evident that Americans must support President Trump in the effort to remove Iran’s nuclear threat; support him even to the extent of sending troops to ensure Iran’s compliance. A nuclear war in the Middle East would exceed the millions of deaths that occurred at the hands of Hitler and the Nazis!
